Instructions
  1. Cream together shortening, sugar, brown sugar, eggs and vanilla until it is light and fluffy.
  2. Sift together flour, soda and salt and stir to the creamed mixture. Mix well.
  3. Add chocolate chips and nuts (optional).
  4. Drop onto a greased cookie sheet.
  5. Bake for 10 minutes at 375 degrees.
Recipe Notes

Many of the chocolate chip cookie recipes use butter instead of shortening. That results in a flatter, less crispy cookie.
